Phoenix Temporary Emergency Shelter
As we work towards building the permanent Phoenix navigation center campus, it is crucial to provide interim shelter and support services to the community's unhoused population. Phoenix, Arizona, a city known for its scorching summers, has been grappling with a growing homeless population and delays to the campus. In response, a temporary shelter constructed entirely from temporary buildings is being rapidly deployed to provide safe, dignified and much needed temporary housing for 100 poeople in a congregate setting and 40 more in a non-congregate setting.
Beyond housing, the facility will incorporate essential amenities. Modern, clean bathroom facilities will be readily accessible, ensuring basic hygiene needs are met. Additionally, the complex will feature dedicated spaces for healthcare and treatment services. On-site medical personnel and counselors will provide crucial support, addressing both physical and mental health concerns.
The future campus represents a significant step forward in addressing homelessness in Phoenix, and this temporary shelter is the first step in providing respite for their unhoused citizens. By combining rapid construction with comprehensive services, it offers a potential model for other cities facing similar challenges. The project aims to not only provide immediate relief but also serve as a foundation for longer-term solutions, such as job training and housing placement. Click to here watch ABC15 segment.
