SAME Accelerated Construction Symposium

Excerpt from SAME San Francisco Post.

On February 24th, COO David Renard moderated and hosted a Society of American Military Engineers virtual symposium about accelerated construction for hospitals during the early response of the pandemic. The panel consisted of Ryan Felton from McCarthy, Patrick Macari from Gilbane, Don Travis from Ebtech Industrial, Paul Barter from Salas OBrien, Jim Avery from Sprung Structures, and August Ochabauer from ECC.

“SAME San Francisco hosted the Rapid Hospital Mobilization to discuss the challenges, best practices, and success stories of COVID-19-related applications from the perspective of engineers, builders, manufacturers, and owners.

The SAME San Francisco post invited attendees to a panel discussion showcasing the rapid construction efforts America required to accommodate the COVID-19 pandemic; from the increase of COVID-19 positive hospital stays, the flood of COVID-19 testing, and holding facilities for those showing symptoms before test results came in. Attendees were able to hear from the leading engineers, builders, manufacturers, and owners that provided emergency response during the pandemic’s unprecedented times.

Salas O’Brien, McCarthy, Gilbane, ECC, Renown, Sprung, and Ebtech all played pivotal roles in accelerating projects related to COVID-19 construction. McCarthy and Gilbane both separately built hospital additions in a matter of months, Salas O’Brien re-engineered existing systems to accommodate more volume, ECC converted a convention center for Covid patients, Renown converted a floor of their parking garage for overflow patient space, and Sprung Structures and Ebtech delivered pre-engineered and modular buildings in days for US agencies.”
