Urban Campground - Rogue Retreat

Our vision for this revitalized urban campground went beyond simply repurposing salvaged elements. RPM embraced the legacy of the site by seamlessly integrating inherited pallet shelters and modpods alongside thoughtfully designed new housing products. Recognizing the challenges of the old campground which was prone to seasonal mud and lacking essential amenities, we prioritized functionality and a long lasting solution to mitigate the impact of nature.

Landscaping and strategic paving became the first line of defense against the rainy season, keeping residents dry and mud-free. Accessibility took center stage with a fully functional parking lot and fire lane, Allowing direct and expedite access for first responders for both the residents and the surrounding community. The center of the community is organized with a pre-engineered, climate-controlled respite space, offering a haven for relaxation and connection. Beyond basic shelter, we envisioned a space that supported daily needs, incorporating a bike repair shop, hygienic bathrooms and showers, and convenient laundry facilities. This wasn't just a facelift; it was a complete transformation, injecting the urban campground with renewed purpose and dignity.

By seamlessly blending the old and the new, we aimed to create a vibrant and resilient community hub. Every detail, from mud-resistant pathways to the dedicated bike repair shop, was meticulously chosen to enhance the daily lives and foster a sense of well-being for the site’s clients.

RPM was the urban campground consultant for this project and specified Foldum structures because of their long term durability and lifecycle costs. Watch the hearing here (32-35mins). This non competitive bid was necessary because of the project’s grant fund deadlines, SB 5561 dollars needed to be used by June 30th and informal competitive quotes would only indentify the lowest cost product, not the most durable overtime.
